Simple ways to refresh your home this year

A new year has arrived, and we’re taking this opportunity to make some exciting changes around the home. Even minor updates can make a large impact on the look and feel of your interiors, and January is an excellent time to revive your living space.

Below, we’ll explore some simple things that you can do to upgrade your home without the headache. Read on to find out more.

Walls & Ceilings Matt Emulsion – Pashmina

Paint your walls: It’s amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do. Not only will your room instantly appear more polished and put together, but choosing a stylish new colour for your walls will keep your interiors from looking dated. What’s more, when we’re all feeling the pinch after Christmas, painting your walls is one of the best ways to update your home on a budget. This year, we’re especially loving earthy browns like Sewing Bee and Rustic Twine from our Crafted™ collection, gorgeous greens like Enchanted Ivy and Forest Vista from our ELLE Decoration range,  and on-trend muted pink tones such as Powdered Clay and Pashmina from our Walls & Ceilings paints.

In addition to painting walls, we recommend painting furniture and other surrounding woodwork as a straightforward way to revitalise these areas. We provide product ranges in three different finishes (gloss, satin and eggshell) for your woodwork and metal, ideal for your doors, skirting or to bring furniture back to life.

easyclean® Bathroom – Midnight Navy, Clay White

Declutter and organise: A cluttered space is distracting to the eye and usually looks messy. It’s important to highlight the best features of the room, and this is much harder to accomplish when a space is untidy.  Start 2023 on the right foot and set yourself up for a productive year by spending some time organising your home. Implement smart storage solutions (jars, boxes, etc) and take advantage of existing shelves, cupboards and drawers to optimise your home’s efficiency. The results will be immediate and powerful.

Upgrade your lighting: Let 2023 be the year you say goodbye to harsh overhead lighting and embrace accent lighting. Wall lights, floor lamps, and table lamps are all excellent alternatives to overhead lighting and will create a beautiful ambiance in any room. We also suggest harnessing the power of candlelight for a soft, warm glow that will add a touch of magic to your space and make it feel much more cosy.

ELLE Decoration by Crown – Tailored, Pure & Simple

Replace knobs and handles: Knobs and handles on doors and drawers have a huge influence on the look of the items. Adding a different type of hardware to these home staples can completely change the style of the piece and therefore even the look of the surrounding space. This is a quick and cost-effective way to elevate a room with minimal commitment.

easyclean® Tough & Washable Matt – Mustard Jar, Dash of Nutmeg

Paint your ceiling: Your walls and woodwork aren’t the only places to paint. We suggest focusing your attention upwards and considering your ceiling, also known as the ‘fifth wall.’ A thoughtfully painted ceiling will bring the entire room together and help it to look polished. Ceiling paint is also a great way to camouflage eyesores while accentuating features such as molding or beams. Our Walls & Ceilings matt and silk emulsion range uses carefully selected Vegan Verified ingredients along with our unique breatheasy® 99% solvent free formulation to offer you the confidence to decorate your home safely.

Top tip: to hide imperfections, lumps or bumps in a ceiling, choose a matt finish to reduce light reflecting from any raised areas
